Field recording and soundscape
Environmental recordings as sound photographs: listening perspectives gathered at a precise moment and carried into new compositions.
FLUIZE
Listening comes before recording
Every landscape has a sonic imprint that changes with time, light, presences and the conditions of the moment. To record it is to encounter one perspective, not to claim the whole place.
The microphone becomes a point of observation. What it retains is an unrepeatable relationship between place and instant: a sound photograph able to reopen the memory of that experience over time.
The sonic imprint of a place
Water, wind, living beings, human activity, distance and silence form a constantly changing texture. Field recording makes audible relationships that often escape us as we move through a place.
A recording is not a faithful copy of a landscape, but a way of seeing through hearing. It preserves what could be heard from one position at one precise moment.
Listening to a moment again
To listen again is to rediscover not only sounds, but the atmosphere, distance and movement of an instant. A recording can reactivate images and sensations, bringing back into presence what time has moved away.
When it enters a FLUIZE composition, the landscape does not become background. It carries its own depth and opens a dialogue between the recorded place, the present space and the listener.
An archive in motion
FLUIZE moves through different territories with the intention of photographing their soundscapes. Each recording retains the imprint of a place and an instant, so it can be heard again and reopen the perceptual memory of what was lived.
This archive travels with the project and can enter Perceptual Cartography, compositions, installations and collaborations devoted to the identity of a place.
Practical information
Before taking part
Can I listen to the recordings?
A selection will be published progressively. Some recordings remain connected to live compositions or to the projects for which they were made.
Can a sound portrait of a place be commissioned?

How does recording relate to environmental care?
Recording is carried out with minimal interference and disturbance, respecting access, people, wildlife and the specific conditions of each place.
